About the event

To celebrate the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo next month, we’re asking Mace people to take part in their own marathon to help raise funds for charity.

All you’ve got to do is move a minimum of 26.2miles in 31 days and raise £30 for the Mace Foundation. You can complete the miles in any way and anywhere that suits you, giving you flexibility and the opportunity to be creative. Did you know the Games in Tokyo will feature 339 events in 33 different sports, encompassing 50 disciplines? Why not try one or all of these disciplines and strive for your personal best?

You’ll be able to complete the distance at your own pace, in your own time (as long as it is within the month of July) whilst being a part of a wider community. The Mace Games 2021 is all about fitness, fundraising, technology and fun!

You’ll be able to track your mileage and fundraising, whilst keeping an eye on the leader boards. We know you like a competition – so if you want to see your name in lights on the leader board, get involved! The challenge is open to all – why not make your own competition?

By taking part, you could win £1,000 for a charity of your choice*. For selected winners, the Mace Foundation will make a charitable donation for the following;

  • Fastest 26.2miles
  • Biggest fundraiser (individual/team)
  • Most adventurous (how many different Olympic sports can you incorporate in a month)
  • Best story/journey
  • Best team

*Winners' chosen charity must align with the charitable objectives of the Mace Foundation.

How your support helps

At the heart of the Mace Foundation is our match funding programme. The Foundation has donated over £1m to support Mace colleagues who are raising funds for a charity close to their hearts. Together with Mace people’s fundraising efforts, we have donated £3m to 450+ charities around the world through this programme.

The funds raised from this challenge will support this programme and all monies raised over £30,000 will be split between Mind,St Mungo’s and Dubai Cares.

Do you want to help change people’s lives? Do you want to find your purpose and redefine your boundaries? Do you want to help others?

Keep safe during the Mace Games 2021

We know that everyone has different abilities, so you can take part in whichever way you like – even on a space hopper – all we ask is that you make sure that the method you choose to use is safe. Mace's priority is the safety and wellbeing of all our people and their families. The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, and as a global business this will impact us all in different ways. Please also ensure you follow your local COVID related guidelines and social distancing measures when carrying out the challenge.

Warm up properly before your activity and don’t push yourself too hard! If you feel unwell or injure yourself, please seek medical advice before continuing your activity.

Track your progress

Linking your fundraising page to a fitness app is a great way to update everyone with your efforts. You’ll be able to easily keep track of your miles.

Once connected to Strava, your activities will come up automatically on your activity feed. To see how many miles you've covered so far, take a look at the activity log on your fundraising page.

If you’d prefer not to use a fitness app you can still easily keep track of your miles through your fundraising page by manually updating it using the simple steps below. That way your colleagues, friends and family will still be able to see how you’re progressing;

  1. Go to your fundraising page – this was automatically set-up for you when you signed up to the Mace Games 2021. Log in using the email address and password used when you signed up to the challenge.
  2. Click the 'add fitness' button on your fundraising page.
  3. Edit the number of miles, your duration, and the time of day you completed your activity.
  4. Click ‘post’ and then refresh your page – it should now appear in your feed.
